Would You Pay This Gobsmacking Amount of Money to Attend the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?

Tickets for the Victoria's Secret's annual fashion show, which will be held in London for the first time ever this year, are reportedly selling for £9,995 ($16,663). Also want to go to the after party? That ups your cost by $3,000. For a total of $20,000. To see some models in wings walk on some glitter and then have champagne and a tuna skewer in the same nightclub as them after.

Cornucopia Events is selling these tickets. As part of one of their VS show *~SpEcIaL pAcKaGeS*~ they can also put you up at a fancy hotel, drive you to and fro in a limo, and make you restaurant reservations somewhere cLaSsy*~.

They're charging $20,000 for all this, the Telegraph reports, "to keep out the riff raff." Though, who are they fooling? The Situation can obviously afford this.

For those of us who are not the Situation, and for whom attending is not even a remote possibility, the show will be televised on CBS.

16 Ways Twentysomething Women Rationalize Spending Money

1. This is basically the price of my work expenses! I know I haven't even filled out my reimbursement form and I might not be able to find a third of my receipts but once I finally get around to filing that and getting my check back it will more than make up for the price of this leather T-shirt that I really need since that girl at the bar last night looked so good in hers.

2. Expense reimbursement checks are practically BONUSES. This feels like money I earned instead of money I already spent therefore I absolutely deserve those silver shoe booties Stacy said looked super-good on me. Stacy has the best taste.

3. I spent all that money to come on this tropical vacation already so what's another $50 on a Ceasar salad and fries? I came here to enjoy myself, not spend my time searching for reasonably priced nachos. Every proper yuppie knows that sitting next to a pool causes the price of everything to increase four fold. It's just a fact of life.

4. I already spent $60 on three daquiris yesterday. What's another $18 mai tai at this point? I pay $2 extra for egg white-only omelettes all the time.

5. Spending a week at my parents' house saved me SO much money. That's a full week's worth of eating out and apartment utilities that I don't have to pay for. I hope Stacy comes to Zara with me after brunch!

6. Ugh I had the WORST day. I can't believe how stupid that new department head Donna is. I can't wait to quit and work in a place where my brilliance is actually appreciated and — ooh Urban Outfitters. I'll just zip through — I deserve a new freakum dress after the shitty day I had. Donna wishes she had the body to pull this off.

7. I'm so excited about my new [apartment/job/promotion]! I better get a new [coffee table/shift dress/Theory blouse] since I'm most definitely not in a position to look like a shabby Sharon anymore. #MovingOnUp

8. I am so beyond stressed out. I can't do this anymore. Where's the number for Bliss, let's see here — "Hello? Hi, I need to come in for a massage this evening. Yes, 7 p.m. sounds good. You know I was thinking of the 60-minute deep tissue but if you have 75 minutes available… Mm hm, it's a Visa —"

9. Just another $30 for a paraffin foot wrap? OK! Why not? I've come this far. This massage is already so beyond worth the $200 I'm spending on it! I deserve it after the week I've had.

10. Maybe I should just go to the nice nail salon for a change. I mean, I don't have kids, I'm not married. Now is the time in my life when I can really afford to treat myself.

11. Being single just costs money. If you're going to go out to bars to try to meet potential mates you're going to have to spend $12 on one cosmopolitan sometimes! That's just how it goes. You can't meet people curled up in bed with Hulu Plus!

12. These shoes were not made for public transit. These are cab to curb shoes and that is it. Shit, is it raining? Fuck it, I'll just order an Uber.

13. Why is it that the only food I ever have in my apartment is frozen bread and Annie's bunny pasta. If I have another carb-only meal I'm going to turn into a churro. I better order that $16 salmon salad that's really good and filling and never makes me feel fat.

14. I would go to the gym so much more often if I had awesome neon-accented workout clothes. Besides, those Lululemon leggings make your thighs look firm instead of jiggly so I can go to aerobics class without feeling weird about my body. Oh, it's 10 percent off the second pair today only? I may as well get two.

15. Omigod omigod Gilt only has one left in my size! If I don't get that blazer right now I'll never find it in my size again. Added to cart, there. Omigod omigod! I only have six minutes left to purchase! I better get my credit card so I can enter everything in before I lose the last small.

16. Man, this blazer is kind of disappointing-looking on me. But returning it is like sooooo not happening #lazy #ihatemail. I'll just keep it.

Mo' Money, Mo' Problems? How to Deal When Your Paycheck Is Bigger Than His

Your paycheck is bigger than his? You go, girl—and you aren't alone. "A quarter of women who work are making more than their male partners," says Carmen Wong Ulrich, a financial insider and author of The Real Cost of Living. "And it's growing." But be prepared that financial disparity can cause tension in a relationship. Here's what to look for and how to deal.

1. You're Suddenly The Breadwinner

He's used to be bringing home more bacon, but a bump up in your salary or a new career has shifted the balance. "If all of a sudden you make a lot more money, talk very openly, early, about what this means," says Ulrich, who advises coming up with a game plan on not only the division of expenses for couples living together, but also household duties. "I expect you to walk the dog, take care of the kids, whatever it is."

But most importantly, Ulrich says no matter how much, or how little, each partner is making, no one person should ever be paying entirely for all components of a household if both parties are working. "Have a system so you are both contributing to the household no matter what it is."

2. You Do It All... And We Mean All

If your full-time job is carrying your household but you're also logging major hours cleaning up/cooking/ taking care of kids, you might want to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation. "When and if children come into the mix, if both the wage earning and taking care of the kids falls onto the woman's shoulders, things can get out of whack very quickly," explains Ulrich. "Earning the money and taking care of the house and kids can get very difficult; There has to be some flexibility in these roles you're going to play."

Ulrich says with younger couples, it may not be so much of an issue of protecting egos, especially with the rise of stay-at-home dads, but once again, it's important to have these conversations early so you're not stuck trying to juggle a 60-hour week and cleaning the house after a rough work day.

3. He Makes Much Less Money

He's hot, he's funny, he's great in bed. But there's an obvious Miranda and Steve on Sex & the City situation going on, circa their relationship round one: You obviously make much more money than he does. As in, you're separated by several tax brackets.

This doesn't necessarily spell problems. As long as dating him doesn't fall into one of two categories, says Ulrich: "Does he expect you to pay because he makes less money? And how does that make you feel? Or does he insist on paying for you even though he doesn't make very much money?" says Ulrich. "These are both red flags. You want someone in between, who will be willing to say 'Hey, let's split it this time, or let me pay this time, and you can pay the next.'"

If you can tell that he isn't looking for a Sugar Mama and his ego isn't impenetrable, Ulrich says "after several dates you could have a very frank conversation" about money, making dating less of a hassle in the future.

Regardless, Ulrich shares a very important warning. "I do recommend that women don't start taking care of someone. Be careful to keep your finances fairly separate."

4. Your Friends/Family Don't Approve

The fact that he's a bartender/slightly unemployed poet/undiscovered lounge singer couldn't bother you less. Your parents and friends, on the other hand, are a different story.

"You have to be really eyes-wide-open about what's going on. Do you really respect this person? Because if you don't respect this person and they're living off of you, it's not a good situation," says Ulrich.

"You have to be very secure in the situation and the roles you're both playing, and that's the bottom line. If there's any part of you that feels bad or embarrassed, that's going to become bigger and bigger as time goes by," insists Ulrich. "All that criticism is going to make more cracks; That's something that you have to assess up front."

No matter what situation you're handling, if you're bringing in the big bucks, Ulrich has one key piece of advice she believes all women should follow: "If you're putting in more money, you never want to throw that in someone's face, like during a fight," she advises. "It can't be a point you can hold over somebody."

Rihanna Flaunts Her Money Bag

We can always count on Rihanna to take serious fashion risks. Case in point: the blinged-out fanny pack she paired with her Texas Tuxedo (translation: denim shirt and pants) and cream lace-up oxfords yesterday in NYC.

Embellished with about a hundred gilded dollar signs, this faux leather Joyrich The Cashflow Studded Fanny Pack, $90, karmaloop.com is hard to miss. But for whatever reason it works on RiRi—and it's practical. After all, who really likes toting a bag around town?

Thoughts?...Tell us in the poll below.

10 Things We'd Rather Spend Gas Money On

February 21, 2012 at 12:55PM By Korin Miller |

Whether you have a car or not, you’ve probably heard about the insanely high cost of gas right now. In most states, a gallon of gas costs $4.50, and in some states like California, it’s up to $5 a gallon.

That means you’re dropping $100 every time you go to fill up. Ugh. We feel your pain. We’ve been torturing ourselves by dreaming up 10 other things we’d rather be blowing $100 on.

1. A JetBlue Cheeps flight to someplace warm
2. 100 packs of gum
3. Eight bottles of something bubbly
4. A cool new chair from IKEA
5. A Sephora shopping spree
6. Brand spanking-new notice-me heels
7. Five consecutive happy hours
8. A boho-chic

Important New Legislation That Could Save You Money

January 24, 2012 at 3:32PM By Esther Crain |

Last month, we filled you in on something that had the potential to make a major dent in the health (and pocketbooks) of millions of young women: The Obama administration was considering letting religious organizations off the hook when it came to providing health-care coverage they were morally opposed to. In other words, if you worked for a Catholic school or hospital, your pill prescription, for example, or an RX for Plan B, would not be picked up by your workplace insurance plan. You’d have to pay the full cost out of pocket—and if you couldn’t afford it, risk an unplanned pregnancy.

Many of you read our story, and we bet you took action too by contacting your local representatives and the White House in protest. And it paid off. When we heard that a decision was handed down last week, all we could say was “Phew.” That’s because the Obama administration affirmed that no employer, whether affiliated with a religious organization or not, should be exempt from providing no-copay coverage for birth control, emergency contraception, as well as a full range of crucial women’s health services—such as Pap tests and yearly gyno exams.

Obama’s health care heads did grant religious organizations an extra year to comply with the new mandate, meaning that they must start covering the cost in August 2013, rather than August 2012, when it begins for all women who have insurance via their workplace. But it’s still good news that means women everywhere will have access to preventative health care services without shelling out a copay.

Happy with the new ruling? Click here to thank the president for listening to women.
