The Single Easiest Way to Find Out if Someone's a Narcissist

Is your Tinder date spending more time taking selfies than actually talking to you? Here's a quick way to figure out if you should have swiped left: Just flat-out ask him if he's a narcissist. The results will be surprisingly accurate, according to a study published in the journal PLOS ONE this month (via Science of Us).

Researchers from Indiana University, Purdue University, and several other colleges banded together to figure out a single-question way to determine narcissism. In a series of 11 studies of more than 2,000 people, they proved the Single Item Narcissism Scale — i.e. just asking, "Are you a narcissist?" — works nearly as well as more intensive methods to figure out whether a study participant is a narcissist.

Here's how they phrased the question, for use on all your first dates: "To what extent do you agree with this statement: I am a narcissist. (Note: The word 'narcissist' means egotistical, self-focused, and vain.)"

Town Made Up of 600 Hot Single Women Asks Bachelors to Move In

A town in Brazil made up entirely of 20- to 35-year-old women is hoping to get some male residents [via The Mirror].

Noiva do Cordeiro, with a population of about 600 young women, was founded in the 1890s by a woman excommunicated for adultery. Other women who were excommunicated or otherwise shunned slowly found their way to the town. Since then, it's traditionally been only female residents: male children are sent off after they turn 18, and although some women live their with their husbands, the men work out of town all week and are only allowed back on weekends. Men aren't allowed to take part in running the town, and all town politics are managed by the women (who, the Mirror weirdly points out, "are renowned in the local area for being extremely attractive.")

Because of their female-only policy, the single citizens are having a really tough time finding boyfriends. Now they're hoping to find eligible bachelors that wouldn't mind moving to a town run by single women. I'm sure they'll get a few new residents within hours.

But the ladies aren't giving up their Brazilian paradise for potential new beaus. Nelma Fernandes, 23, said, "We'd like to get to know men who would leave their own lives and come to be a part of ours. But first they need to agree to do what we say and live according to our rules." Yep, OK, not a problem.

Stop Telling Single People They Need to Date

There are a few times conversational cues trigger involuntary apologies from everyone in the vicinity: the death of a family member, the news of a serious disease, and, for some reason, being single. Why are you apologizing? It's neither your fault that they're single, nor is it even a problem. "Single" is not synonymous with "depressed" or "lonely" or "celibate." But the worst thing you can do if someone says they're single? Tell them they should be dating more.

Actively dating is not a requirement of being single. It's a chore. Yeah, meeting new people can be fun, but it can also be stressful or boring. Prepping for a date means hours of getting ready anxiety beforehand, and honestly you'd probably have more fun going out with your friends. Not everyone wants to roll the dice with a new date every night, and that's chill.

To be clear, going through a breakup and being single are not the same thing. Breakups are rough, and people are allowed to mope about despondently after going through a horrible split. You can hug these people, and bring them ice cream. But single people — people who have not been in a relationship for some time — probably aren't spending their nights curled around a carton of Rocky Road, crying while hitting play on Dirty Dancing for the third time in a row. There's no government-funded organization polling people on the length of time they've been single and handing out a sweatpants, cats, and Netflix accounts to qualifying spinsters. No one is going to board up their windows and say goodbyeto this cruel, cruel world just because they haven't had a boyfriend for a year. Well, they might, but they can do whatever they want. They can focus on working out, or learning an instrument, or watching TV. That's the great thing about not dating: you answer to no one.

And another reason not to pity single-not-dating people: they aren't alone. They spend more time with their friends, and having close friends is often a better support system than having a romantic partner. Frantically dating makes people spend less time fostering the close relationships they have, and couples often drift away from friends and family as the relationship gets more intense. Maybe, just maybe, the single person you're talking to loves their friends and family, hates dating, and is getting plenty of ass from casual hookups, thank you very much.

Coupled people and serial daters act like not dating means you've given up. Like it means you're in a bad place. You know what's worse than singledom? Being in a relationship that doesn't work for you. To quote the late Robin Williams in World's Greatest Dad, "I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone." Not everyone wants to dump time and energy into Tinder meet ups just so they can guarantee they'll have a plus one to a wedding. Not everyone wants to meet someone and "see where things go."

So the next time you're about to grab someone and give them a big hug when they casually mention that they're not seeing anyone, pause for a moment. Look at their face. Are they crying? Are tears streaming down their face while they blubber uncontrollably? Do they look like they haven't showered in days? If not, they're probably pretty happy spending their evenings with friends instead of pretending to be interested in your coworker's good-on-paper-but-boring-as-fuck son. Leave them alone.

Makeup Tutorial: How To Create a Perfect Cat Eye Every Single Time

Can't quite master the art of creating a cat eye? Makeup artist Lauren Cosenza shows and tells you just how to wing it — perfectly.

1. Wing it out. "Using a high-quality eyeliner brush, dip the tip into a black gel eyeliner pot and start creating the tail of what will be the wing of your liner," says Cosenza. "Begin at the outer corner of your eye, angling the brush toward your temple (not the tail of your brow) for a more everyday (versus night) kind of look." Charlotte used Make Up For Ever Aqua Creamliner.

2. Create dashes and connect the dots. "Run the same gel liner along your top lash line — starting from a quarter of the way in from the inner corner of your eye (where your lashes begin) — using dashed guidelines," she says. "Then, connect the dots to help you draw a smooth, straight line."

3. Draw a tiny, elongated triangle off of the tail you created in step one. "Using your eyeliner brush, make a diagonal line that comes off of the winged liner you drew in step one and connect it to the liner you just traced along your upper lash line," says Cosenza.

4. Fill in the triangle shape that connects the winged liner to the upper lash line. And make it look fluid by thickening the liner along your upper lash line with a felt-tip liquid liner, like L'Oréal Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner.

5. Clean up any imperfections. And sharpen lines (if yours were wobbly) with a makeup remover pen.

Here's to applying winged liner like a pro and getting it right every single time.

Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice Has a New Single

Geri Halliwell has performed her new single live on Australian TV.

The former Spice Girl plans to release new track 'Part of Me' on October 25, after working on new music over the past few years.

Halliwell debuted the track during a performance on the Footy Show in Australia last night (October 3).

The star recently revealed that she has been working with Ed Sheeran's songwriting team on new material.

"I'm writing a new album and we've been doing stripped down, acoustic sets - I'm progressing to new sounds," she said.

"Music for three minutes is like an antidepressant - it can lift you up, take you there, transport you to that first kiss, make love to it. Writing music should be joyful - I'm writing about love and filth."

Halliwell released three solo albums between 1999 and 2005 and scored number one singles with 'Mi Chico Latino', 'Lift Me Up', 'Bag It Up', and 'It's Raining Men'.

The singer is currently serving as a judge on Australia's Got Talent.

Exposed: Every Single Real Housewife's Paycheck

So, what's the going rate for having catfights in stilettos and G&Ts with Andy Cohen these days? Well, it depends which Real Housewife you are: In other words, how long have you been on your particular Bravo franchise, and, more importantly how much of a sh*tshow and/or raging alcoholic are you? Below, a comprehensive list of all the mind-boggling paychecks you can possibly want. (And it doesn't even include the women's various entrepreneurial spinoffs, like Teresa Giudice's cookbooks or Ramona Singer's pinot grigio, which I might be drinking right now. Just kidding! I never drink while I'm working. Just kidding! Just kidding. I might.)

Below, a comprehensive list of their earnings from OK Magazine via HuffPo.

Warning: If there was ever a sadly convincing case to skip college and go on reality TV, this is it.

Atlanta

Cynthia Bailey: $300,000
Phaedra Parks: $300,000
Kandi Burrus: $450,000
NeNe Leakes: $1 million
Above, we learn that NeNe Leakes is the highest-earning housewife.

New Jersey

Jacqueline Laurita $275,000
Melissa Gorga $350,000
Caroline Manzo $400,000
Teresa Giudice: $650,000
And Teresa Guidice, the most reprehensible of the New Jersey housewives (unless you've heard one of Melissa Gorga's horrid techno-remix ballads), takes home the turkey.

New York

Heather Thompson: $175,000
Aviva Drescher: $200,0000
Sonja Morgan: $220,000
Ramona Singer: $500,000
Countess Luann DeLesseps: $500,000
As if Ramona or the Countess needs more pocket change to buy Swarovski thongs with, or whatever the heck they do.

Orange County

Alexis Bellino:$175,000
Tamra Barney: $325,000
Gretchen Rossi: $375,000
Vicki Gunvalson: $500,000

Most of which Vicki likely spent on that plastic surgery.

Beverly Hills

Brandi Glanville: $175,000
Kyle Richards: $225,000
Lisa Vanderpump: $350,000
Along with Vanderpump's stint on Dancing With The Stars. That lady has a LOTTA cash.

Miami
Adriana De Moura, Marysol Patton, Joanna Krupa: $55-75,000
The lowest-rating show of the bunch. Do them a favor and waste your time! I mean, watch it!

There you have it. Any surprises in the bunch? I figured Brandi Glanville would be raking more in, considering all the recent LeAnn Rimes drama with Glanville's ex-husband and Rimes' current husband, Eddie Cibrian.

Leonardo DiCaprio: This Is Why You're Single

Leonardo DiCaprio will forever hold a special place in our hearts for one reason: Titanic. Also, he's a major hottie and we almost can't believe he's still single.

The star recently spoke to Esquire, where he revealed why he can't find love, telling the mag, "Six months of being on location or being off in Morocco or someplace like that is not the best thing for a relationship."

Our boy is basically blaming his lack of a love life on his super-busy career. While this is true, work schedules can definitely get in the way of dating (having a workaholic boyfriend is pretty much the worst thing ever), we don't think this is why DiCaprio is single.

Leo (I hope it's cool I start calling you that), we need to talk. Come sit in the Cosmo corner. LL Cool J and Brad Paisley are familiar with this spot.

You see, the real reason you're single is probably because you're kind of a Modelizer. Sorry not sorry. Leo, you've dated at least two Victoria's Secret superstars: Gisele Bündchen and Bar Refaeli. And rumors once swirled around that you were trying to nab Karlie Kloss.

Look, you're sexy and pushing 40, but seem to limit your dating pool to super models or actresses you could have fathered. Hey, age ain't nothing but a number! But maybe you should expand your horizon on the type of girls you go after, and not use your job as an excuse for not being able to find love and commit.

When you decide that you wanna settle down and stop dating models or actresses, call us.

xoxo

Single Ladies: Are You OWBA Like Tay Swift Is?

We all know the oft-relayed dating axiom of "Once you stop looking for the right guy, you will totally find love." (At least I used to hear this nugget from my smug engaged pals all the time...until I became one myself and can now attest that it's totally true.)

But celebrities seem to be giving this old saying their own spin: "Once you put it out there that you're okay with being alone, you will totally find love."

In a recent interview with Wonderland magazine, our gal Taylor Swift revealed that if she never ever (ever) got together with another dude—and just, you know, decided to "paint in a cottage by the ocean" by herself—she'd actually be totally cool with that.

"I’ve kind of realized that I have no idea where I’m going to be next year, or in six months, or in two months. I mean, I know where I’ll be on tour in two months, but no idea where I’m going to be mentally, emotionally, dreams, goals, wishes, hopes," she said. "I just have no idea and I’m kind of into that. You can make a board for all the goals you want in your life with the pictures on it, and that’s great, daydreaming is wonderful, but you can never plan your future."

Let it stand for the record that Tay is far to young to be even contemplating whether or not she's going to ever find true love (though, full disclosure, when I was 23, I was pretty sure I would die alone).

But Taylor isn't the first single celeb to say she's OWBA (our new shorthand for Okay with Being Alone). Before she was pregnant with mini Kimye, Kim Kardashian made a comment on her E! juggernaut about how she may never get married or have kids—and could just be happy with being an aunt forever.

So, we can't help but wonder, is this OWBA thing the hot new thing to say when you're single?

Certainly, this is a great response to naggy family members who want to know when you're going to settle down already. And, when you're OWBA, you don't get those pitiful looks from your friends (or, better yet, your frenemies) coupled with comments about how they "worry about you" having to fly solo for this summer's wedding circuit.

But, maybe there's also some kind of unintentional reverse psychology going on with this OWBA declaration: Like, does accepting you're awesome without a plus one make you more confident—and thus, more attractive—to dudes? If we know anything about guys, it's that not needing them makes us look pretty damn irresistible in their eyes.

We wanna know what the single ladies out there think: Are you OWBA?

More Sh*t Single Girls Say

What do you like to do on the weekends?
Go to a cat adoption. You can never have enough of them!

How do you get over a break up?
Wine, fro-yo, talking everyone's ear off and crying myself to sleep.

Any first date fail stories?
All of them, I can't even talk about it.

What makes a guy undateable?
If he's shorter than me, his mother's name is my name, his ex-girlfriend's name is my name, his name isn't spelled how it sounds, his name is a girl's name, his name is Shawn, he lives at home, he steals toilet paper from restaurants, he's ever had a pet lizard, he has a kid, he doesn't like my cats, he has less hair on his body than I do, he's a bartender, he doesn't have a car, he wears baseball caps, and if he has tribal tattoos.

What's your idea of the perfect girls night?
No boyfriends allowed! Dancing, cocktails, and trying to find hot guys!

How do you keep your hair looking gorgeous?
I deep condition my hair on nights I don't have dates. These nights involve drinking a bottle of wine and passing out on the couch before I have a chance to rinse.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I wake up looking like this.

Describe your personal style.
Girly and sexy! But I am really most comfortable in sweatpants and a T-shirt. I'm just like every other girl, ya know?

What's on your dream board?
I tore mine up and threw it out. It wasn't working. I need to make a new one.

Alexander Skarsgard is a single man!

Good news, ladies: True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgård is single and ready to mingle. According to US Weekly, the Swedish vampire split from girlfriend Kate Bosworth "a while ago", with the exclusive source adding "it was very mutual."

The gorgeous couple were together for two years and while they were rarely snapped on the red-carpet circuit together, they were often spotted looking loved-up at music festivals.

Guess that explains why Alexander was getting his flirt on at Comic-Con last week!
