Yes, Miley Cyrus' Homeless Friend Had Some Legal Troubles, But Does That Really Detract From Her Good Cause?

As the media dug into Jesse Helt's background this week following his debut on the Video Music Awards stage over the weekend, details on his criminal record emerged. Helt had been charged with attempted burglary in 2010, and violated his parole. A warrant remained out for his arrest in Oregon, his home state — until this week, that is. With money from Miley paying for his ticket, Helt returned home and promptly "turned himself in to Polk County authorities," the Associated Press reports (via The New York Daily News). He then posted bail, and his next court date will be in two weeks. Helt's mother Linda told Us Weekly that Miley has offered to help with any/all legal fees that ensue, though it's not yet clear if she also ponied up the cash for his bail so he could enjoy his time back in Oregon at home with family, and, you know, not in jail.

Miley had previously chastised coverage of Jesse's story earlier this week. In a series of angry tweets she wrote that the media "never fails to disappoint," and argued journalists had "gone after" a negative, clickbait story instead of focusing on the greater, positive cause. The rub is, though, that Helt's background — particularly given his sensationalized introduction to the world — is pretty intrinsically linked with youth homelessness now; his moving speech at the VMAs will have made him a face (if not the face) of the issue.

Is it unfortunate his dirty laundry is being aired in the tabloids? Yes. Is that something you sign up for when you agree to take on a starring role in a major, nationally broadcast awards show? Arguably, yes again. But then surely his story, warts and all, helps add context — at least one person's context — to an otherwise amorphous, faceless group. Whether that makes him more or less relatable (as expected, the response has fallen on both sides of the coin) is sort of immaterial, actually; it's made him more real — because Jesse and the other 1.6 million homeless youth across the United States are all real people. And, hey, that's actually what Miley wants to publicize!

So then, as she also tweeted, if that's a reality you'd like to help with, consider entering her Prizeo contest and/or making a donation to My Friend's Place (or one of the many other stellar organizations out there dedicated to helping homeless youth).

Burning Man Erection Contests Are Really Hard (NSFW)

"The first boner to rise gets the prize," says Brad McCray at the start of the event.

McCray is a beast of a man who leads the Burning Man theme camp Slut Garden with his wife of 10 years, Tammy. In front of him, five men stand exposed from the waist down with their scantily clad female partners dancing around them, encircled by a cheering, dust-covered crowd of hundreds. Every man is trying to produce an erection as fast as he can without touching himself. Their partners can encourage the sexletes but not by using their hands.

This is the Speed Boner challenge, the finale to McCray's fourth annual Slut Olympics. Other events include Deep Throat (a pretty self-explanatory contest that involves a 13-inch dildo), Guess-A-Willy (a blindfolded woman has to identify her partner's penis out of a lineup of naked men), and a Best Balls beauty contest. Speed Boner is still the biggest draw.

For seven days, a patch of the Black Rock Desert in Nevada becomes the most sexually accepting place in the U.S., if not the world. Black Rock City will hold an estimated 70,000 people at its peak this year, temporarily making it the third largest city in the state. Nudity is everywhere and freely accepted. Actually, not walking around in the buff makes you the freak here.

Slut Gardeners are strictly swingers, married couples who range from their late twenties to early forties and want to experiment. Of the 54 campers staying at the garden, women slightly outnumber men. "There is a lot of cross pollination," McCray says, but to be clear, they are not polyamorous. "Swingers are looking for sex, and the polyamorous are looking for a relationship." One year, Burning Man organizers put Slut Garden next to a polyamorous camp. They did not get along. Slut Garden campers were looking to hook up while the polys were working out the complicated geometry of triads, quads, and other romantic shapes.

McCray made a new rule that contestants "cannot come to Speed Boner with a boner."

Since its inception, the Speed Boner competition has been plagued with difficulties. The first year, no sexlete got an erection. So the second year, McCray decided to let the contestants use their hands. The competition quickly turned into an ejaculation blast, which McCray describes as "grotesque." Last year, a man came to Speed Boner packing wood. McCray made a new rule that contestants "cannot come to Speed Boner with a boner."

Despite the changes, there are more setbacks this year. Only five couples compete for a medal, three of whom are Slut Garden campers. The other two are volunteers from the audience.

Mike Graham, a lawyer from Seattle, does color commentary for the Slut Olympics. His measure of an erection is that "it ain't a bone if it doesn't stand on its own." McCray explains the rules to the contestants from Slut Garden's DJ sound booth: No touching your penis with your hands. Partners can rub on each other but no touching with the hands. And no "insertion," he adds.

Three minutes go by quickly, and all the contestants look limp. The dancing turns to grinding as the crowd grows impatient.

The women rub their breasts on their partners' penises to move things along. Perhaps out of frustration, perhaps misunderstanding of what McCray meant by "insertion," or maybe because they were carried away in the heat of the moment, four of the five women start fellating their partners. A referee disqualifies all of them as Graham taunts them for breaking the rules. The last man standing by default is "Shylar," a porn producer from Los Angeles. He gets a gold medal for his partial stiffy.

Shylar doesn't think most men can win an erection competition without chemical assistance. He participated for the fun of it but knew it was likely a lost cause. "There are only five guys in the porn business who can get an erection every time without help," he tells me. The rest, he says, use performance-enhancing drugs like Cialis and Viagra. "Julian," another Speed Boner contestant, is a porn star from Florida and says that conjuring a boner quickly is all mental. Then again, he was disqualified for getting a blow job from his partner, "Leanne."

McCray has big plans for next year's Speed Boner competition and the rest of the Slut Olympics. He's launching a Kickstarter campaign to build a big Slut Garden stage next year. "I want the stage to have eight legs and look like a spider," he says.

But machismo aside, the pressure of a large stage may make the difficult task even harder, and fewer boners is the last thing Slut Garden needs in 2015.

Beyoncé's Surfbort Obsession Has Really Gotten Out of Control

Pierre Debusschere/CR Fashion Book

Newly minted VMA Video Vanguard winner and mother of the cutest child known to mankind Beyoncé just landed herself another magazine cover, this time with Carine Roitfeld's CR Fashion Book. Carine, former editor-in-chief of French Vogue and friend of Kanye, enlisted Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci (also a friend of Kanye) to style King Bey for the shoot, so unsurprisingly, she looks incredible. To keep the identity of their major cover star a secret, the magazine previously released a photo of Mrs. Carter in a sparkly pom-pom mask and asked readers to guess. In retrospect, it seems so easy, because who else on the planet could possibly make such an insane face accessory look so chic?

Pierre Debusschere/CR Fashion Book

And then, in a true stroke of styling genius, Riccardo had Beyoncé pose with her signature item of sporting equipment: a big surfbort. It is made by Chanel, and it is fabulous. And yes, she probably does surf in that satin corset, because she's a grown woman and she can do whatever she wants, especially if that includes wearing impractical clothing to do water sports.

Leonardo DiCaprio Did the Ice Bucket Challenge, Really Went for It With His Nomination

Leonardo DiCaprio, king of the high seas and master of the man bun, continued his best summer ever by taking the ice bucket challenge with pals including the president of the Sierra Club, Chief Adam of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, and Chief Courtoreille of the Mikisew Cree First Nation. Leo might goof off when he's practicing karate kicks on a yacht, but he gets serious when it comes to dumping a pail of water on his head. Because nominating fellow actors is for plebeians, Leo decided to nominate Stephen Harper, perhaps best known as the Prime Minister of Canada. Keep dreaming big, Leo. It's what Jack Dawson would do.

Did Andrew Garfield Really Bail On Batkid At The Oscars?

Spiderman star Andrew Garfield had been scheduled to present an Award at last weekend's Oscars, but was replaced at the last minute by Chris Evans. (Which is a fair trade.) Earlier this week, sources explained his absence as due to "personal reasons" involving his girlfriend Emma Stone's family. Page Six now says that's not the case, though, and that instead Garfield basically had a diva moment during pre-broadcast rehearsals — and then bailed on his skit.

Cruelly, that meant 5-year-old Batkid Miles Scott missed out on his Oscars debut. Scott came to the public's attention when the Make-a-Wish foundation fulfilled his dream to be "Batkid" for a day last November. (Having been diagnosed with leukemia as a toddler, he just entered remission.) The entire city of San Francisco played along, watching Miles save the day in classic comic book plotlines — he rescued a lady, defused a fake bomb, and caught the bad guy. In further recognition of his bravery, he was scheduled to be inducted as an official superhero at the Oscars.

And Garfield was tapped to do the honors, but Page Six says that during rehearsals he "decided he didn’t like his lines." After producers vetoed his rewrites, he apparently "had a tantrum" and stormed off. Miles' family are believed to have witnessed the messy scene and "were devastated." Though Captain America actor Chris Evans filled in, the superhero segment was cut from the broadcast. As an apology, producers later gifted the Scott family tickets to Disneyland.

Sports Illustrated Model Doesn't Like Photoshop, Can't Really Stop It

Sports Illustrated model Julie Henderson doesn't want you to mistake what you see in magazines with reality. "That’s not who I am," she told Cosmopolitan.com at the School of American Ballet’s Winter Ball. "I would love to see more real beauty without being Photoshopped as much — or at all really — because when you start to look at photographs you’re like, ‘Why does her face just look funny?’ They just do too much and it disfigures their entire being."

Henderson says she’s had her eye color changes and her freckles removed. ("I’m like, 'Oh, this is what I would look without freckles! OK, nice to know.'") But despite her desire to see more real beauty, she doesn’t really complain. "You just kind of have to take it," she said. "At the end of the day I did my part of the job, and then that’s somebody else’s."

Of course if you need further proof that she's not perfect, she's happy to provide. "I just fell down the stairs," she said. "I had a Jennifer Lawrence moment coming in. When your heel gets caught on the dress lining, you’re like, 'Wahhh!'" At least she's in good company.

What Guys Say vs. What They Really Mean

Guys aren’t really complex or nuanced in terms of how we communicate. For the most part, what we say is what we mean. I realize women assume there’s subtext to our statements, or that we play mind games, but our mind game is not playing mind games. It’s like Inception if there were no dreams at all and everything going on in the movie was happening at face value. With that in mind, here are some things we say, and what we really mean when we say them:

1. When you present us with a choice and we say, “I don’t care, you pick.” We literally and absolutely mean it. There’s no pressure on your end. Whether the question is, “What should we get for lunch?” or, “What bouquet will look better at our wedding?” we know it's a decision better made by you. Maybe we’re avoiding a potential fight, or maybe we know we’re just out of our element. Your best response at this point is just to make your choice and never look back. Oftentimes, these situations can result in weird stalemates, wherein you keep asking us, “Are you sure?” are we keep repeating that we literally don’t have an opinion. I’m pretty sure if you added the amount of time couples spend in these conversation loops it would add up to weeks.

2. If you want to engage us in a serious conversation while we’re in the middle of something and we say, “Can we do this later?” We’re not trying to be rude, we’re seriously really bad at paying attention. We can’t catch up on The Walking Dead and listen to you at the same time. I realize you don’t think you’re interrupting but we want to give you our full attention and also have the ability to wrap up the adventures of Rick Grimes and Co. in a timely fashion. There’s an obvious caveat here: if it’s something really important and we don’t want to stop what we’re doing, then we’re just being dicks. If it’s something that can wait a few minutes, we just want to wrap up what we’re doing and then focus on you. It’s not a slight.

3. When you’re talking about one of your friends and we say, “Oh, she's really funny/nice/friendly.” We mean it. We’re terrible at compliments. (Seriously, ask us to say something nice about our best guy friend, and see what kind of painfully awkward responses you get.) It also doesn’t mean we’re crazy about them. It just means we don’t want to claw our eyes out whenever we all hang out, which I guess is still a pro.

4. When you’re wearing a new dress and we say, “You look nice.” We honestly just happened to notice your outfit. It doesn’t mean we think everything you’ve ever worn up to that point looks awful. We’re not all good at recognizing when you’ve got new clothes. Unless it’s coming from a guy with pretty good fashion sense, it probably means the clothing is somehow revealing. The majority of the time, if we’re complimenting you, on some subconscious level it’s because what you’re wearing is sexy.

5. When we say, “You’re not like a normal girl.” We’re not calling you weird. Well, maybe we are, but that statement is meant to be flattering. What we’re really saying is, “You’re not like anyone I’ve ever met,” which definitely sounds a lot more romantic than us muttering, “You’re not normal,” while we shove Doritos into our mouths, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

What Men Really Say About Sex

FACT: 98% of all men have above-average sized penises.

Wait, what? Men lie?

Yes. Recaps of their sexual experiences are no exception.

It’s understandable that a woman would fear having her reputation dragged through sexual mud. I’m sure many have gone through the terrifying visualization of some jocked-out dude nicknamed “Mike The Jackhammer” or “Leo The Sex Haver” telling his entire fraternity every nasty, fabricated detail, blow by (pun intended) blow.

Unfortunately, those guys do exist. They brag and exaggerate and even make stuff up about every vagina they’ve ever been near. The good news is they’re very easily spotted, and thus easily avoided:

1. They tell you they don’t believe in “having game” (telling you this is a form of having game)
2. If you let them buy you a drink and you don’t go home with them (the nerve!), they’ll henceforth refer to you as an ice-queen or Lucy the Not Sex Person.
3. He still wears his letterman jacket. Dude, you’re like 30.
4. Come on, be real. You know who this guy is.

But even if you sleep with a guy who fits this description, you still don’t have much to worry about because:

A) Men lie.
B) He’s telling the story to men, and men know that men lie, because they’re also men.
C) Guys make fun of this archetypal douchenozzle even more than women do. We listen to his stories because none of us has read a novel since college, but that doesn’t mean we’ve lost our appetite for enthusiastically narrated fiction.

On the bright side, the vast majority of guys don’t act like this. Very rarely will a man brag to his friends, “Hey, you know Lisa, the girl I’ve been seeing for the last eight months? We had sex again last night, right after watching Fallon! HAWT!” ?We’re pretty much restricted to guys referring to the first handful of hook-ups with a particular woman. But he can’t just run into the streets like Christian Bale in “Newsies” and announce the sex. He wants to, but he can’t. It’s totes gauche, bro.

Instead, the most common thing a just-laid gent will do is wear an overly stupid grin. He might even make a desperately oblique reference to how tired he is. Doing this essentially forces a knowing friend to ask, “Hey, did you get laid last night?”

Instantly, the stupid grin morphs into a devious smirk; the bags under his eyes become victory scars from a sex battle. Still, he divulges almost nothing. He coyly shakes his head, or demurs with some platitude like, “I’m a gentleman.” Stop playing hard to get! It just makes me want to know more!

Still, many guys won’t volunteer much information, even after a fair amount of prodding. They’ll hide behind the guise of “I don’t kiss and tell” to cover up a deep-seated, Steve-Carell-from-40-Year-Old-Virgin anxiety of saying something wrong.

Men don’t want to admit that they made an awkward move. Or said the wrong thing. Or took too long to put the condom on. Or a million other things. The more they talk, the greater the likelihood that a discerning listener will realize the notable omissions and stretched details.

Meanwhile, I’ve heard that women give their friends a very detailed play-by-play of the evening’s activities. Where he put his hands when he kissed you. What sexual position(s) he attempted. How he owns six Futurama DVDs and no other DVDs.

Men, on the other hand, if they talk at all, generally stick to newsworthy aspects of the night. Maybe they had sex in an exciting, possibly illegal, location. Maybe she said “Quiet, don’t wake my roommate,” and she was referring to her cat.

Perhaps she “just laid there.” This is actually one of the very few concrete sexual complaints a man will make, largely because there’s very little risk involved in saying it.

Beyond those, guys are likely to opt for a terse binary review: “It was pretty hot” or “It was OK I guess.” Rex Reed, eat your heart out.

Please understand, though, that he is speaking purely in relative terms. No self-respecting man would consider missing even “OK I guess” sex in order to watch the latest Breaking Bad.

(Seamless mid-season reference to Breaking Bad for SEO purposes? CHECK*.)

In lieu of moment-by-moment details, a savvy man avoids further questioning by employing a move known as The Sexy Trail-off. It goes something like this:

GUY 1: “Hey man, I saw you left the bar with that girl last night.”
GUY 2: “Ohhh yeah. So I bring her back to my place, and dude… I mean… dude…”
GUY 2: [Makes really uncomfortable lip-biting face, while slowly nodding.]
GUY 2: [Wrongly believes Guy 1 is currently imagining all the heroic sex moves he didn’t actually complete last night.]
GUY 1: [Debates whether or not to reveal that he has already looked at all 1,274 pictures of this woman on Facebook.]

You know those horror scenes that are even scarier precisely because you can’t see what’s going on? That’s the principle (we hope is) in play when we employ this technique. Most guys are somewhat proficient at sex, but haven’t yet achieved the title of Grand Master Jackhammer.

All of which leads to another move, one we’re not proud of: covering our vague tracks by using a really memorable, action-oriented manly-seeming verb or verbal phrase, like “fucked” or “banged” or “sexed her up real nice.” We know that these words are objectifying and offensive. Most forward-thinking men don’t want to objectify women; why are these words so commonly used?

Because there is a — go with me here — gaping hole in our societal vocabulary, which contains only three categories of sexual verbs:

Category 1: Objectifying
Examples: drilled, screwed, boned, took the train to Ejaculation Station

Category 2: Overly Tender
Examples: made love, united as one body, made love several glorious times, pleasured one another’s auras

Category 3: Clinical
penetrated a canal of some sort, took introductory steps in the procreative process, got all up in her intercourse
[Most of what I know about science is from Breaking Bad. SEO, bitch!]

You can understand why a man would go with category #1, right? He’s not actively trying to objectify his partner; he simply has scarce options that describe he true feelings.

That is why, great Cosmopolitan.com readers, we need to invent:

Category 4: Sexual-and-hot-while-still-respectful-but-not-clingy
[UGC list to come]

If you’re really nervous about what he’ll say to his friends, you need simply to control the conversation (h/t Don Draper). Just tell the guy what to say. Like in most arenas of life, the man will do pretty much exactly what the woman tells him to do, particularly if doing so means you’ll sleep with him again.

Spinning the story yourself greatly reduces the risk of outright slander, with the added benefit of demonstrating a direct and cool demeanor that most guys appreciate.

*Nic Cage should do a sequel where he looks for Anna Gunn, because she is a national treasure.

What It's Really Like to Work from Home

When I tell people I work for Cosmo, and that I do it from home, the first thing they ask me is "OMG so you're just like Carrie Bradshaw?!"

Typically, I don't have the heart to tell them that, no, I do not spend my days looking like this:

Or even like this:

The reality is that, one year ago, I quit my office job as a writer/editor, moved to a city with no salaried jobs in my field (smart, huh?), and embarked on a life of freelancing. Everything I knew about freelance writing (ahem, Carrie Bradshaw) looked pretty glamorous and I expected my new gig to be no different—despite the fact that I would longer have a reason to adhere to the alleged fashions of the times, or even wear clothes at all, and I had no one to talk to all day except the stuffed mini alpaca that sits here, judging me, on my desk.

I've learned that being Carrie Bradshaw, or Hannah Horvath for that matter, in real life is about as realistic as pooping rainbows. But, freelancing? It's still pretty awesome. So, come, gather round my unmade bed, er, Friday office, and let me tell you what freelance writing is really like.

1. Working from home means that sweatpants are your new dress code.

Some people believe in making their beds and getting dressed every morning to get a fresh, productive start. These people are delusional. But they probably get laid more than I do. You'd have to ask my fiancé, but I imagine there are few things sexier than coming home to your future wife after a long day at a real office and find that she has not showered, brushed her teeth, nor changed out of the ratty clothes she was wearing when you kissed her goodbye that morning.

Still, a sharp decline in sexiness is worth not having to wear actual clothes, IMHO.

2. Working from home means that you're actually working, not housewifing.

In February, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer mandated that her work-from-home employees get their butts back into their company-issued ergonomic office chairs. Where they would, presumably, be more productive.

However, I've found that I probably work more when I'm at home. There's no lunch hour, break time, or coworkers coaxing you to get froyo when the 3 p.m. slump hits. When you're salaried, you get paid even if you slack off, when you freelance you don't. Which means that my dreams of having a sparklingly clean house in which I'd whip up homecooked meals while wearing lingerie night after night never materialized.

As much as I'd love to spend all day doing this…

…or this….

…instead, my kitchen floor is perpetually sticky, my dirty dishes typically rot in the sink, and my fiancé usually comes home to find me, in the aforementioned sweatpants, longing for human contact (see No. 4). Granted, I do have the ability to grocery shop, go to appointments, and maybe even sneak in a trip to Marshall's to get my discount shopping on from time to time. But, some days, I don't leave the house. (Mainly because the Starbucks close to me, my only viable option for free wireless, always seems to be populated with people muttering to themselves, and they tend to sit next to me.) But I work my ass off and I'm damn proud of that.

3. Working from home means that you're actually working, not playing.

To that end, I thought that freelancing would mean a little writing, then I would be free to hike, go to yoga, hit the gym and, basically, end up with a body like this:

But, again, I'm working. And when I'm not working, I'm looking for work. Or, I'm doing what I did when I worked in an office: Wasting time on Facebook. Or Pinterest. Hey, I've got a wedding to plan.

4. Working from home means that you'll lose your people skills.

Nearly everyone who finds out that I work from home askes me, "Don't you ever get lonely?" I don't know, do you think it's a problem that my most meaningful conversation of the day is typically with the grocery checkout guy at Albertson's? Or that, because I am a responsible, frugal shopper, thankyouverymuch, I like to chat with George (he has a name) about the new rewards program, his day, whatever shred of a relevant conversation topic I can find? Yeah, I get lonely, all right.

5. Working from home means you might actually miss the office from time to time.

My favorite thing about working in an office was the free snacks. One place I worked we had string cheese, cookies, Goldfish crackers, some kind of newfangled, powdered Nespresso machine, and even beers on tap. However, when you work from home, presumably for "yourself" but really for many other people, there is no such thing as "free." You no worky, you no snacky.

Sure, freelancing isn't totally what I thought it would be, but I wouldn't trade my (sometimes stinky) existence for any other. After all, that endless free processed food comes with a price: You have to sit in the same damn chair for nine hours straight—under fluorescent lights no less—in order to get it.

Plus, now that I've worked in sweatpants, I don't think I could go back to actually getting dressed every day.

The Cosmo Assistants: What New York Fashion Week Is Really Like

Hannah Bibb, fashion assistant

“I just started two days ago. It’s a lot of scheduling—getting seat confirmations, making sure all the times are correct, all the invites are here, calling PR people constantly. PR people are hard. They’re your worst enemy and your best friend because they save the day.

“The craziest thing that’s happened has been delivering stuff to editors’ houses at 1 a.m., right when you finish the schedule. Or talking to PR people at 1 a.m. because they’re still awake, too—although it makes me feel better that we’re all in this together.

“My roommate is Eva Chen’s assistant at Lucky. We were texting last night at 11:30 p.m. that we were both still at the office. We come home from work and we don’t even talk to each other. It’s like: Bed.

“Shiona [Turini] and I sent my roommate and Eva cookies—because my roommate is like my best friend and Shiona is Eva’s good friend—that were like, “Happy fashion week!” They were from, um, Mama-foo-ka—something like that?

“It’s really fun though. Everyone is still up in spirits. That will probably change next week.”

Follow Hannah on Twitter and Insta @hannah_bibb.

May Hasso, fashion assistant

“I interned here twice before I got hired. As an intern, I’d get to see all the invitations and they’re, like, wedding invitations. Cardboard, bows, vibrant covers. Everything you’d ever expect a fashion event to be. So that was really cool. But I didn’t get to go to anything. I wanted to. But I was not invited.

“I was sick earlier this week. It was definitely the worst week to be sick. I got like 500 emails. I had no access to the clothes or anything on the server. I’m just drowning in stress and sweat from my boiling fever and tripping out on narcotics.

“I am constantly caffeinated at all hours of the day. I have two coffees on the train ride here and when I get here it’s the first thing I do. That’s the only way I’d get through this or I’d be sleeping right now.

“My dream shows are like, ohimgod, everything. I’d obviously love to see Chanel and all the real luxury stuff that I would not be able to go to unless I was really high ranked at the magazine. Or Céline, Balenciaga. I think they show in Paris.

“But I haven’t even been to a show! So beggars can’t be choosers. I was invited to some things right now, but…yeah. I can’t go. Maybe when I have full intern staff again. I hope HR starts approving [all the interns] so I can go to a show.

“I had an invitation to a show that was in Paris. Costume National. I was like that is so cool. I would adore to go to that show. But I’m on the other side of the country. The world, actually. So, yeah, I've been invited to things. But I'm just so busy."

Follow May on Instagram @amayyyzing.

Lauren Balsamo, Beauty Assistant

“On the way out of the office on Wednesday Leah [Wyar] handed me her ticket and said, "Richard Chai, 11 a.m." That was my first show ever. It was one of the coolest experiences.

“The way you sit is kind of weird. It wasn’t in seats. It’s like fancy bleachers and everyone is really close together. I thought, they really pack them in.

“I saw the Jonas Brothers and Rachel Zoe. I love her. But celebrities, whatever. I’m a model stalker. When you see a model—someone you feel like is a fake person—right there in front of you, it’s so cool.

“I worked backstage at the Honor show. It was super-hot and crowded. So crazy. But the PR girl knew it was my first fashion week, so she showed me around.

“The most absurd thing was how much goes on at the same time. There was this model with seven people working on her. She was getting her hair curled, her makeup done, and getting a mani and a pedi. All these arms and hands. They were exfoliating her elbows. I was like, wow, that’s crazy, but they wanted every part of her to have the whole look—fresh and dewy. They kept saying, ‘These eyebrows aren’t right’ and I thought, ‘Her eyebrows look pretty great to me!’

“I want to meet Karlie [Kloss]. When I meet her, I’ll probably say nothing. I’ll just take her picture. I would think of a million things to say but when it comes down to it, I’ll get nothing out.

“When I came back to the office yesterday I was like, this is in the top five coolest things I’ve ever done. I’ve always followed fashion week on Twitter and Instagram, but you don’t really know until you see it, ya know?”

Jason Wu for Lancôme...Yes, This is Really Happening

You fought over his capsule collection for Target, now be ready to get your pretty little manicured hands on some more, affordable, Jason Wu.

Jason Wu x Lancôme, which rolls out in stores this September, contains seven super wearable products from eye shadow palettes to lipstick—and we honestly can't wait for it to launch (exclusively) in Nordstrom and Bergdorf Goodman.

We had a chance to ask Mr. Wu a thing or two about his latest venture into the beauty world and here's what he told us:

Cosmo: You're a fashion designer, and now you've started lending your style to makeup—what inspired you to do this?

Jason Wu: "Beauty has always been extremely important to my design process and I’ve made it an integral part of my fashion shows over the years. I think it was an organic progression that further delves into the Jason Wu lifestyle that also showcases my love for colors."

Cosmo: How did you come to partner with Lancôme?

JW: "We were in talks for a while, so when the opportunity for Lancôme to sponsor the makeup team for my show came up, we thought it was the perfect time to also introduce a collection together. I love that women will now be able to recreate the iconic beauty looks that we design and incorporate that into their daily lives through this collaboration!"

Cosmo: Describe your collaboration and partnership with Lancôme?

JW: "The notion that Lancôme doesn’t impose a model of beauty, but rather invites women to embrace themselves is what most intrigued me about with this partnership. The collaboration is an embodiment of a truly modern, sexy, and confident woman, much like the women I design for."

Cosmo: Did you have a muse in mind for your makeup collection?

JW: "The inspiration for the makeup collection came from some of my favorite colors and combinations that I’ve used in my collections. I wanted the colors to be vibrant, feminine, and wearable not only by themselves, but also combined together to create a butterfly-esque eye palette."

Cosmo: How will your fashion style be reflected in the makeup line?

JW: "I think it is always important to think about the complete look when I design a collection. For example, this season (Fall) was all about the purple eyelid that reflected the Yves Klein blue inspired finale dress, which was really dramatic. The idea was that the makeup was part of the color story of the collection. I just loved the idea of this intense blue eye—it is so dynamic and utterly feminine at the same time."

Cosmo: You’re such an iconic member of the fashion industry. Can we look forward to more makeup collaborations from you in the future?

JW: "Stayed tuned-more to come from Jason Wu x Lancome!"

So will you be swiping on this designer's makeup line as soon as you can get your pretty little manicured hands on it?

Lindsay Lohan Is Doing Really Well, So Maybe There's Still Hope After All

Say goodbye to the Lindsay Lohan of yore, and meet the new Lindsay: Not only is she sober (!), but she shows up to work on time (!!) and delivers performances so impressive that the cast and crew have no choice but to give her a standing ovation (!!!). Is this real life?

Yes, apparently it is: TMZ reports that Lindsay Lohan has wrapped filming of her cameo on HBO's Eastbound & Down (off the heels of last week's excellent appearance on Chelsea Lately), where she reportedly made quite the impression: She "didn't just conduct herself professionally while on set this week in North Carolina — showing up on time and memorizing her lines backwards and forwards — she was actually funny too."

Better still? That standing ovation from the cast and crew and a hug from show co-creator Jody Hill, who reportedly thanked her for kicking ass on set.

Credit Lindsay's new, post-rehab lease on life (and the fact that she's living and traveling with a sober coach) with turning things around. Whatever happened in that last rehab (witch magic, miracles, divine intervention) seems to have actually imparted a real change. She's always been a compelling actress and gifted comedienne. Now she just has to keep it up — and try to get back to a place where the fact that she does her job and looks good isn't its own news story.

10 Tumblrs We Really Hope Marissa Mayer/Yahoo Don't "Screw Up"

It's official. Yahoo has bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion. Yes, the notably uncool tech giant is snapping up the online version of hipster heaven. Now before you freak the eff out, Tumblr CEO David Karp and Yahoo CEO Marissa "No You May Not Work From Home" Mayer are assuring users of the popular blog platform that they will "not screw it up." (Those were Mayer's exact words.)

Good. We like to hear that. We love Tumblr and all its craziness, so we rounded up the 10 blogs we hope Yahoo/Marissa Mayer do not "screw up."

1. F*ck Yeah! Ryan Gosling

Because nothing is better than a blog devoted to Ryan Gos pleading his love for you. NOTHING.

2. Scandal Moments

I MEAN. WE ARE OBSESSED WITH SCANDAL AND IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS, now you know. This Tumblr covers all-things Scandal. #Hi

3. Reasons My Son Is Crying

A hysterical Tumblr that started with one mom and her son crying has turned into a mega blog with babies from all over the globe shedding tears for no apparent reason. It. Is. Hilarious.

4. What Should We Call Me

Tumblr helped bring back Gifs. This blog spearheaded the obsession. It puts your reactions to specific situations in Gif form, from when your skinny friend says she's feeling fat to "when I go out two nights in a row."

5. Beyoncé Gifs.

This really doesn't need an explanation. Devouring Queen B in Gif form is just as good as in-person. Oh, Beyoncé Beyoncé.

6. Reality TV Gifs

A blog devoted entirely to the crazy shit Reality TV stars say? OH HELL YES.

7. Dear Photograph

Simple concept: Take a picture of a picture, from the past, in the present. BOOM.

8. Guys In Suits

UM. NO EXPLANATION NEED.

9. Suri's Burn Book

Suri Cruise has got some serious style. Here her would-be-voice wittingly criticizes famous tots.

10. Beyoncé Art History

Art + Bey lyrics = BRILLIANT. Not to mention, Beyoncé's official Tumblr is totally a work of art in and of itself. Bottom line, Yahoo: Do not mess with the Beyoncé brilliance sprinkled all over Tumblr. Thanks so much!

Weird Things That Can Harm Your Fertility…And Stuff That Really Doesn't

Chlamydia is rampant, and if left untreated, it (and less-common gonorrhea) can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, which scars the fallopian tubes so your eggs can't get to the uterus. Docs in Canada have also seen superbug gonorrhea that many antibiotics can't cure—gulp. Ask your guy to be tested for all STDs before going latex-free.
