Beyoncé's Dad Implies Beyoncé Planted the Divorce Rumors Herself

Beyoncé's dad Mathew Knowles – one "T" only, and don't you forget it – appeared on a Houston radio show earlier this week, ostensibly to discuss his college course, but really to talk about his famous daughters. According to him, all this divorce talk is just a "Jedi mind trick," presumably orchestrated by Beyoncé to drum up interest in the On the Run tour. "There's a tour going on, so you have to sometimes ignite that tour," Mathew explained. "Everybody's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200 percent." When asked specifically if he thought that Bey and Jay wanted the infamous elevator video to leak, Mathew replied, "All I know is the Jedi mind trick." These aren't the divorce rumors you're looking for. Bey and Jay can go about their business.

After sharing that strange little nugget of information, Mathew dropped a totally insane bombshell about Destiny's Child. Proceed knowing that this information came from a man who occasionally speaks about himself in the third person and pronounces "homage" like "home-age," so it's worth reading with a grain of salt. OK, here you go: Destiny's Child is planning another record and a reunion tour. "There might be another Destiny's Child album coming," Mathew said coyly. "There might be this tour that makes history." The DJs then asked him to cough twice if this is really going to happen, and he coughed twice, so he's either speaking the truth or dealing with symptoms from a late-summer cold. Perhaps his repeated references to the Jedi mind trick were just more hints about these alleged reunion shows, and the girls are going to dress up as the Cantina Band for the duration of the tour. Beyoncé is Figrin D'an, obviously.

Gwen Stefani Calls Herself Chunky, Gets Blasted for Body Shaming

Gwen Stefani tweeted an old photo of herself with the caption, "Chunky me 1983," and because this is the internet, people got upset that she called herself fat.

After several people tweeted back at Gwen about her comments, Yahoo! Shine ran a post with the headline "Gwen Stefani's Comments About Her 'Chunky' Body Make Us Sad." They cite several other examples of objectively beautiful women complaining about their bodies, implying that it's all symptomatic of the pressure women feel to look great every day, in every light.

While society certainly does make it hard for average girls to feel good about themselves, how is it any better to tell someone they can't say they look "chunky" if they think that's how they look? It would be one thing for some random person to write, "Gwen looks chunky in that picture." That would be body-shaming. But Gwen writing it about herself? That's just someone describing their own appearance. This is not a woman with a body-image problem, after all. This is a 44-year-old mother of two (almost three) who still rocks a crop top like a teenager.

Yes, it is a problem that women don't feel good enough about themselves to say they look awesome all the time. But it's also a problem to silence women when they express opinions about their own bodies. Should she have chosen another descriptor? Maybe. But does she have to say she looked amazing in that picture if she didn't think she did? No. Even the most preternaturally attractive people have bad days, and that wouldn't change even if we lived in a perfect world where body shaming and societal pressures didn't exist. You could be the most confident, most feminist, most attractive person in the universe, and some days you'd still just feel chunky.

Carine Roitfeld Never Calls Herself Feminist

What's the difference between sexy and skanky? "I think the problem of the world is sexy changed a bit. When I started 20 years ago, 30 years ago, sexy [had a] very different meaning from today," said Carine Roitfeld, global fashion director of Harper's Bazaar and editor of CR Fashion Book, at the unveiling of a new Mercedes in Lincoln Center's fashion week tents. "Now 'sexy' is trashy, it's not very beautiful — it's on the limit of vulgar," added Roitfeld, who some still call the "Queen of Porno Chic" (though she prefers "Erotic Chic"), because of her provocative fashion editorials. "I¹m very covered! Not to show everything, that¹s my idea of sexy today."

Roitfeld added that "feminist" is still not in her vocabulary. "I love if someone invites me to a restaurant so I don¹t know if that¹s a feminist," she said, in her accented English. "But I really believed in the word in Europe — I don¹t know what you call it in America — matriarchal. You know it¹s very important, the role of a mother… I don¹t know but it¹s feminism to me to love your kids."

At the premiere of Mademoiselle C. in New York Friday night, Roitfeld also brought up motherhood during interviews on the red carpet. "She's a very very good mother," Roitfeld said of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, when reporters prodded about their alleged rivalry. "When my kids came to New York in the beginning she was very nice with them and she'd invite them for lunch or dinner. This we never forget. It's a mother complicity and I like that."

Roitfeld recently put new mom Kim Kardashian on the cover of CR Fashion Book, but said she couldn't foresee featuring her baby, North. "It's not Momma. Maybe another magazine. I love babies," she explained. Despite all the flack Kim receives for not being "high fashion" — fueled undoubtedly by the floral dress she wore to this year's Met Gala, prompting the entire internet to "compare her to a couch" — Roitfeld said that she "was very easy to work with. A very good model. "
