The Final Season of "Glee" Sounds Kind of Sad

The plot synopsis for Glee season six has been revealed.

The final run of the musical Fox series will see Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) returning home to Lima after her failure as a TV actress in New York.

After discovering that Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) has put an end to all arts at McKinley High, Rachel finds herself in the halls of her old school, reinstating and leading the glee club.

Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) and Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) find surprising jobs in Ohio, while Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) also finds an exciting opportunity to get into.

Glee season six will see other previous students returning to their hometown as well, with Dave Karofsky (Max Adler) appearing in the series — reportedly as Blaine's boyfriend.

Five new characters will also be introduced, all sophomores at McKinley High School.

Glee's final season will consist of 13 episodes and is expected to air next year.

20 Life Lessons From This Season Of 'The Bachelor'

1. Language barriers can make a relationship more complicated than necessary. As evidenced by the inability of Sharleen and Juan Pablo to communicate, unless you count makeouts.

2. The emotions that come out when you are shitfaced are occasionally not sane. Everyone on the show is pretty much drunk all the time, but Drunk Victoria, the Ghost of Episode 2, had too much white wine and turned into a minor character in Girl, Interrupted. Know your limits! Don't get so drunk you turn sad-drunk!

3. If the spark isn’t there for you, end it with the person rather than falling into one of those lifeless dead fish relationships because you’re emotionally lazy. Sharleen, you did the right thing by peacing.

4. Women criticizing other women’s ability to be “good moms” is gross and awful. Watching 24-year-old (!!!) Chelsie say that Sharleen would not be as good a stepmom as she would gave me bad chills. This is 2014. We know that cigarettes are bad for us and that future-mom-shaming should not happen.

5. When someone is dumb, homophobic, and sexist, it cancels out his hotness completely. I am not attracted to Juan Pablo. Not even when he takes his shirt off. Makes you realize that you’re not entirely superficial, doesn’t it?

6. Those hippie headbands have to stop being worn by any human being on the planet immediately. Oh my God, just stop, you’re not at Coachella.

7. Hobbiton gets the bitches damp. Or at least they pretend it does.

8. Beware of someone who sleeps with you and then slut-shames you for it. That Madonna/Whore complex is alive and well. And Clare should have jammed that rose in his eye.

9. A helpful code word for “sex” is “swimming.” “But when we went swimming I thought it meant something.” “We should not have had unprotected swimming.”

10. You should never beg for besitos. Oh God, watching Lauren cling like a barnacle to Juan Pablo and beg him to make out with her, was like reliving every humiliating, unreciprocated experience I have ever had with a guy.

11. Working with kids for a living doesn’t necessarily make you a sweetheart. Nikki the pediatric nurse actually has a pretty bad attitude, even though you’d think taking a trip to CancerKidville every day would make you appreciate life a little more.

12. The best people don't always win, but everyone loves them anyway, so it's worth it. Renee, the unofficial House Mom, was warm and caring to the other women in the house, even though they were her competitors. She was also the only one who didn’t completely bug out when Juan Pablo surprised the women with breakfast before they put their makeup on. Unfortunately, in the words of Chappelle’s Show, sometimes keeping it real goes wrong.

13. Don’t start a fight you can’t win. When Clare goes upstairs to confront Nikki, she doesn’t really have a reason.

14. Don’t just look for someone who would fit into your life well — look for someone you really love. This comes courtesy of Nikki’s dad, who may have weirdly intense eyes and looks like a Republican senator who would end all of his speeches with “And before I forget, I’d like to thank Jesus” but has a valid point.

15. The crazy always comes from somewhere. Before you judge that needy, clingy girl your friend just started dating, remember that she might come from a family of 7,000 bitchy older sisters and a mom who lets them walk all over her. And her name might be Clare. Cut her a break.

16. Sometimes you just shouldn’t listen to your family’s advice about your love life. See above.

17. If a guy’s bored when he does normal, everyday things with you, he’s not right for you in the long-term. The majority of one-on-one dates on The Bachelor involve an exotic locale, a private country-singer concert, an adrenaline-pumping physical challenge or sitting down to some over-the-top romantic dinner while a swan pukes diamonds into your mouth. The fact that Juan Pablo seemed disinterested when he spent a quiet afternoon with Renee at her son’s Little League game did not bode well for the future.

18. Nothing good ever happens when Americans are in Vietnam. Casual sex goes bad! Unnecessary wars begin! Really, nothing good.

19. The best pedicure utilizes teeny flesh-eating fish. Imagine if that was provided at your next bachelorette mani-pedi outing.

20. “It’s OK” is usually the most irritating, non-okay response to an angry person’s concerns. Andi discovered this after realizing that Juan Pablo was a self-involved jerk in the Fantasy Suite: When she confronted him about her change of heart, and why she didn’t think he was the guy for her, his only response were patronizing non-statements like “It’s OK.” The worst!

Ryan Lochte's Reality Series Canceled by E! After One Season

Ryan Lochte's reality series has been axed after one season.

E!'s What Would Ryan Lochte Do? concluded its eight-episode run in May, averaging 440,000 viewers.

The series followed the Olympic swimmer while he trained for the 2016 Games, while also looking at his personal life.

An E! insider has told The Hollywood Reporter that the network still hope to work with the athlete for future projects.

Lochte was offered several reality TV show projects after his performance at the London 2012 Olympic Games, before he signed up for the E! show.

He has also appeared in guest roles in 30 Rock and 90210.

Back in May, Ryan Lochte told Digital Spy he tries to ignore his "haters" and that criticism of him "comes with the territory".

What Even: The Top 5 Moments of The Bachelorette Season Premiere

Welcome to my boozy weekly roundup of the best, worst and weirdest moments from this season of The Bachelorette — or, as I prefer to call it, Playing Pokémon With The Hearts of Bland Urban Professionals. Let's get rolling! Tell your mom hi for me.

Kisses,

Anna

5. We meet Desiree Hartsock, a 28-year-old woman who spends her entire life putting veils on other women. Desiree, the bridal stylist who cringe-worthily begged Sean not to let her go last season, is a cute brunette anime character who says things like "I believe in the feelings" while roller-skating in a cutoff top and driving the powder-blue Bentley bought for her by Bachelor/ette Animorph Chris Harrison. Desiree's heart is not, in fact, in a sock, but yearning for a Prince Charming. "I love cuddling," she tells Chris. "I want a man. I'm ready." Ever so fleetingly, as tends to happen with women who say things like this, her eyes flash with 700-megawatt crazy.

4. Man uses own child for p*ssy bait. In a clear George Costanza-esque move, Ben, a handsome father, brings his young son in the limousine and introduces him to Des before handing him off to an older woman (grandma? mistress?). "I wanna stay for the party!" the boy cries because Ben told him to because he's naturally adorable. While the chances are good that this kid is a rental from the set of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody — or he'll write about Daddy pimping him out in his future memoirs as an adult/former huffing addict — Des eats it up, because #husbandmaterial.

3. The guy who's a tailor-slash-magician. Just, like, in general. Look, plenty of people have slash-careers. Barista-slash-writer. Waitress-slash-actress. Investment banker-slash-serial killer. But do both his slashes have to be so lame? He damn near sets Des on fire with his opening gimmick, turning a rose into a dove made of fire, or whatever the hell. "People are always drawn to magic," he says. Yep, women like magic almost as much as they love gynecology appointments, or when their best friend is like, "Don't worry, I'm the only one who can tell you gained weight! :DDD" Also, doesn't he know that he should call them illusions? Tricks are something whores do for money.

Side Note: The rest of the less-notable men are basically all slight variations on Taylor Lautner, and there is one soccer player named, fantastically, Juan Pablo.

2. Desiree gives a First Impression rose to an idiotic nude person because what? A dude gets out of the limo shirtless, bragging about how jacked he is. Later, he takes his pants off and jumps in the pool by himself. Not #husbandmaterial, but, unfathomably she gives him one of the first roses of the night, which either indicates that Des was super-embarrassed for him or she — as this guy seems to — has a mild form of Aspergers Syndrome a la Rain Man.

1. Date rapey contestant Jonathan attempts to lure Des to the fantasy suite and Des boots him. An extremely bombed-looking Ken doll repeatedly attempts to solicit Desiree for off-screen sexual intercourse. On his second try, she asks him to leave: "I'm not that kind of girl." (Not on TV, you're not.) She receives a standing ovation from the remaining guys. Ain't no applause like weird, drunk "Yay for not getting gray raped!" applause, that's what I never always say.

Honorable Mention: The wannabe Zuckerbergian social media guy who kept yelling "Hashtag ___!" every other minute, the lamer. (Drop the "the." Just "Lamer.")

Questions? Comments? Did I overlook the guy in the full suit of armor? (Freak.) Let me know on Twitter.

James Beresford, "The Ancient Sailing Season"
2013 | ISBN-10: 9004223525 | 364 pages | PDF | 5,6 MB
Providing a comprehensive examination of the capacity of ancient ships and seafarers to cope with seasonally changing sea conditions, this book draws on a wide range of ancient literary sources while also taking account of modern weather records, hydrological data, and recent archaeological discoveries. Taking a fresh look at the various ways in which seasonality affected maritime transport across the sea-lanes of the ancient world, it offers new perspectives on the nature of seaborne trade, naval warfare and piratical operations. The result is a volume that questions many long-held scholarly assumptions concerning the strength and seaworthiness of ancient vessels, as well as the abilities of Greek and Roman mariners, to regularly undertake voyages across hazardous stretches of sea.
