Does Chris Brown really deserve another chance?

Most people would agree 2011 has treated Chris Brown well. His fourth album, F.A.M.E., debuted at number one on the US charts. He shared the stage with teen dream Justin Bieber on his recent Australian tour. Brown has even earned a reconnection to his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, who controversially began following him on social networking site Twitter in May.

It’s a far cry from the low Brown hit just two years before, when he was charged with assaulting Rihanna after the couple left a pre-Grammy Awards after-party in 2009. If the assault wasn’t shocking enough, leaked images of Rihanna’s bruised and swollen face sealed the deal. Brown, then, became pop culture enemy number one.

Now he’s riding the comeback trail. However, a series of outbursts – including homophobic slurs on Twitter last December and over $2000 worth of damages he caused to his dressing room after he was asked about RiRi in an interview with Good Morning America in March – suggest he may not be as beyond his violent past as his handlers would like to think...
