Special Security Details Needed To Protect Charlie Hunnam From Crazed 50 Shades of Grey Fans

The Hollywood Reporter recently, well, reported that extra security surrounded Charlie Hunnam at the premiere for this season’s Sons of Anarchy. Those buff new bodyguards came thanks to his casting as Christian Grey in the forthcoming 50 Shades of Grey flick — and over at The Atlantic, it’s being speculated the reason for the hired muscle is not just to keep Hunnam a safe distance from giddy admirers wanting to nuzzle his sexy beard growth.

Apparently, he also needs protection from fervent fans of the erotic novels who aren’t happy with his forthcoming portrayal.

They aren’t happy at all. Online petitions to replace him with someone more suited for the books’ racy S&M action have exceeded 80,000 signatures.

A sampling of the petitions’ haters: “Charlie Hunnam looks dirty and very unappealing,” –Corinne from Carmi, IL.

“My first choice is Ian Somerhalder but Matt Boomer [sic] would also be a very good choice. Much better than Charlie whatever.” –Emily from Yonkers, NY

“BECAUSE THAT CHARLIE HUNNAM IS A FUCKING FAILURE I KNOW IT I JUST KNOW IT”—Rae from Quezon City, Philippines

I mean, jeez, don’t hold back Rae. Incidentally, this is my favorite signee: “[signing] to keep my wife happy” –Michael from Harleysville, PA And in conclusion, Hunnam needs all the protection he can get.

"Girls" Star Offers Sex Scene Advice for "Fifty Shades of Grey" Actors

Here's a profound question: should the Girls actresses be required to read Fifty Shades of Grey, the most important sex book of our time? Do mull while you enjoy my brief encounter with Zosia Mamet/"Shoshonna" at the Honor show at New York Fashion Week.

So this show is off site--how did you get here?
I've been wearing Honor for a year about a year and a half. This one (points to her friend) actually introduced me to her and I've been obsessed ever since. I love Giavanna dearly. I think she is brilliant so ya, anything I can do to support her in her genius.

Nice. Now literally, how did you get here?
(Laughs). Oh! I took a cab.

I saw some people CitiBiking.
I did not CitiBike here.

Would you Citibike to a fashion show?
I wouldn't Citibike in general because I'm afraid of riding my bike in the city, but I'm not above riding a bike to a fashion show, no.

Maybe in Paris where it's a little more bike friendly.
Ya, totally.

You guys are finished filming season three?
Tomorrow is our last day.

What can you tease us about it?
A lot of shit happens.

More crazy hairstyles?
Always! Some things will stay the same.

Now did you read Fifty Shades of Grey?
I didn't, no.

They just cast it.
Right.

What advice would you have for the actors — there's potential for them to make the sex scenes in Girls look tame.
I don't know, I think a sex scene is always a little bit awkward but everyone is pro and you just got to remember it's a job. Learn your lines, trust your lighting and your camera department, and you'll be fine.
