The most boring part of any awards show is when the white man in the suit — the "chairman" — comes out to give his speech about the state of the industry. To liven it up at the Emmys this year, Sofia Vergara took to the stage to ... rotate on a platform.
"I came to America with a big dream … it was the same dream that so many women of my generation had," she said before she was asked to spin in circles. The dream? To introduce COO and Chairman of the Television Academy, Bruce Rosenblum. She was being sarcastic, of course. But she had an obligation to fulfill.
Bruce came on stage and said what a "terrific" year it's been for American television. "Our shows continue to have a meaningful impact around the world," he said. "To demonstrate, we'd love for you to stand on this revolving platform."
And then it happened. It really happened.
