David Ingber is one of Cosmopolitan.com's resident manicorns. He bravely submitted the styling of his facial hair to a reader vote. Out of the four options — Justin Bieber's barely there mustache, Tom Selleck's lush mustache, Joaquin Phoenix's long beard, and Channing Tatum's bleach blond look from Jupiter Ascending — you chose Channing. So, good manicorn that he is, David let me color his beard blond, hair, and eyebrows blond.
Here's how it went down:
My co-worker Brooke and I first applied Redken for Men Spiking Cream Wax High Up all through David's hair and beard to give it some grip. Then, we patted on Hair Color Chalk in Squeezed Lemon all over his head and facial hair, pressing it in so that the color would stay better.
Then, I worked Manic Panic's Dye Hard Temporary Hair Color Styling Gel in Glam Gold through his hair and also onto his beard, brows, and lashes to make the blonde pieces pop even more.
The end result: David as a blonde bombshell aka Channing Tatum look-alike. Minus the pointy-ear, they're basically twinsies.
When asked how it felt to be a blond, David replied: "In my brief time as a blond, I spent about two minutes laughing at myself in the mirror. I thought I looked like a member of 'N Sync, but Kathleen" — Cosmo.com's resident 'N Sync-obsessed photo editor — "yelled at me for blaspheming their good name. Some people just aren't meant to be blonds. #sadday."
