First Look: Prabal Gurung for Target

On Oct. 22, Target announced that New York designer Prabal Gurung will create a collection for the store that will be available starting Feb. 10, following in the footsteps of other big names like Proenza Schouler and Jason Wu. To say we are excited is a major understatement! For the past few years Prabal has been a darling of the fashion industry and Hollywood alike—Zoe Saldana, Kate Bosworth and Demi Moore are huge fans, just to name a few. Jennifer Lawrence even picked one of his gorgeous gold gowns for her big Hunger Games premiere.

Sadly the prices fall just a little (okay, a lot) outside of our budgets. Now with this collection all of us will have access to Prabal's ladylike silhouettes and impeccable tailoring and attention to detail. The clothing in the Target collection will range from $19.99-$199.99 and accessories (including jewelry, handbags and shoes) from $12.99-$39.99. Now that, we can afford. 

What does Prabal think about his new endeavor? He talked with Target's A Bullseye View about his inspiration: "The collection is inspired by a girl's journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the first date to meeting the parents to the engagement." And why did he want to create a mass collection? "Mixing 'high' and 'mass' fashion is the modern way of dressing; people don't wear head-to-toe high-end designers anymore. These types of collaborations allow people to experience designer clothes at an affordable price, while still maintaining the look of luxury. So I worked side-by-side with Target to create the highest quality product at amazing prices. I think you'll be impressed with the level of quality in the collection." 

If the first look pictured above is any indication, we're going to want every single one of the almost 80 pieces in the collection!
