Halloween costumes have just gotten a fist-pumpin’ makeover, with Jersey Shore-themed outfits reportedly topping the list as America’s most popular costumes for 2010 – and Snooki coming in at number one!
Jersey Shore characters like Snooki, Pauly D and Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino have been immortalized in the form of fake abs, fake tan, and sky-high wigs.
In fact, the Jersey Shore crew costumes have become so popular that they’ve beaten Lady Gaga to become the number one Halloween costume chosen by young adults ages 18 to 24, according to a poll of 6,000 people by Brand Keys, a New York brand consultant. Other top sellers this year include Avatar characters, President Obama, Iron Man and Buzz Lightyear.
MTV teamed up with costume company Viacom Inc in an effort to make the Jersey Shore costumes as realistic as possible and executives scrutinized the height of Snooki’s poof wig (apparently it can rival Amy Winehouse’s hair) to ensure the utmost accuracy – clearly this Jersey Shore stuff is serious business.
So if you want to channel the fun-sized self-professed "guidette" this Halloween, the Snooki costume can be bought online for around $60. It contains a metallic leopard-print dress that is barely longer than a shirt, and the signature Snooki "poof" wig. Not included? Fake tan, bronzer, and a bottle of vodka.
