"Electronic Makeup" Might Be the (Terrifying) Future of Beauty

Love your foundation, but wish it could make you look a little more like the Terminator? Thanks to a new high-tech art project, you might one day be able to.

Tokyo-based producer Nobumichi Asai used projection mapping to add CGI patterns to a woman's face. According to Slash Gear, there's an initial scanning stage in which a model's face gets mapped, and then a computer program projects graphics onto her mug. The result looks like a full face of makeup, and then transforms into an abstract artist's dream.

Asai and his team have done similar projects on cars and buildings, but this appears to be their first time tackling the human body. And if Lady Gaga finds this video, they'll be in business for a long time.

Angelina Jolie Looks Terrifying as Maleficent on New <i>Entertainment Weekly</i> Cover

Angelina Jolie appears in costume as Maleficent on the new Entertainment Weekly cover, and holy crap, she looks terrifying. Awesome, but terrifying. No one in their right mind would want to be near the business end of those horns.

In the interview, Jolie explains why the Maleficent filmmakers chose to explore the story of Sleeping Beauty from another perspective. "The exercise wasn't how can we have fun with a villain," she said. "It was: what turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel? What could have possibly happened to her?"

The 11 Most Terrifying, Confusing Braids of All Time

 

Braids are obviously so hot right now, but there's a big difference between a trendy braid and a heinous one. I dug through some braid how-to books to find the scariest braids of them all. Scroll at your own risk.

1. Snail Shell Braid. Inspired by no one's favorite living thing.

 

2. Sassy Snake Braid. Just slide up two strands of your braid and voilà! A snake. (No. Don't. Please.)

3. Heart Crowns. You are the new Queen of Hearts/Bad Braids.

4. Frontal Fishtail. Thou shalt never fishtail braid your bangs.

5. Ribcage Braid. The quickest way to make your hair look greasier than it actually is.

6. Scarf Pigtail Braids. A scarf woven through one pig tail braid, over the head, and into the other. Genius.
