Study: Circumcision Is Less Popular Now

You already know that when a baby boy is born in the U.S., his parents have the option to circumcise him. And most parents have opted to go that route—until recently.

According to new research, circumcision rates are falling pretty rapidly in the U.S.

Thirty years ago, about 80 percent of baby boys in the U.S. were circumcised, and now the rate is around 55 percent. That means the next generation of Cosmo readers will have about a 50-50 chance of being with a guy who is circumcised.

Circumcision isn't as popular throughout Europe and other places around the world, so if you've ever dated a guy from another country, the odds are pretty decent that he isn't circumcised.

So for now it continues to be the norm with adult guys in America—but it's definitely changing.
