LMFAO have certainly made a name for themselves after their hit single Party Rock Anthem went viral on YouTube, clocking over 200 million views and bringing the shuffle into mainstream music. With other infectious dance tracks like Shots, I'm In Miami Bitch and their new single, Sexy And I Know It racing up the charts, it seems like the outrageous duo are the ones having the last laugh. We caught up with Redfoo (left) and SkyBlu (right) to find out how they got their groove...
Where did LMFAO come from? Why did you choose that name in particular?
SkyBlu: Well, we’re the Sexy Dudes – that was our first name. It’s so obvious that we’re the Sexy Dudes – when we’re walking down the street, panties are dropping, horns are honking, whistles are whistling... So that was the obvious name, but it was too spot-on. So we hit up Grandma Goodfoot on the iChat and said, "What do you think about the name?"

Redfoo: Of course she is! Grandma Goodfoot’s on iChat, she’s taking shots, she’s shuffling, she just downloaded iOS 5 for her iPhone...
SkyBlu: Anyway, we asked her what she thought of our name, Sexy Dudes, and she said, "LMFAO, you can’t be serious, Beezle and Shneezle."
What’s Beezle and Shneezle?
Redfoo: That’s what she calls us – Beezle and Shneezle. He’s Beezle and I’m Shneezle. The ‘h’ is silent, though.
Thanks Shneezle. Now your songs have become instant nightclub hits – what does ‘party rock’ mean to you?
Redfoo: Party rock is rockin’ the party. It’s an energy, an attitude. You go into a place and you don’t wait for the DJ to play that song, or you don’t wait for people to get crazy – you walk in (and you’re already tipsy because you’ve been pre-partying before) and you’re just like, “Hey, wassup?” “Hey! How’s it goin’”, “Heeyyy baby baby!” but you’re not faking it because you’re really excited to be there and you know deep down that you’re going to make this party happen. Wherever you go, you’re going to make it a funnier place, a sexier place.
What was your favourite party anthem when you were growing up?
Redfoo: Party All The Time, Eddie Murphy.
SkyBlu: That dinosaur song, man!
Redfoo: Puff The Magic Dragon?
SkyBlu: No, man! [Singing] Everybody walk the dinosaur... You remember that? Well, that was my song, maybe it was in my head.
You are both quite similar in age – even though Redfoo, you’re SkyBlu’s uncle. Do you ever boss SkyBlu around?
SkyBlu: We’re more like brothers.
Redfoo: We just have fun – we’re pretty smart chaps, so if I’m being ridiculous, I know I’m being ridiculous. If he’s drunk and streaking, then I’ll take photos and post them on TwitPic, but that’s not my fault!
SkyBlu: That’s a choice I make!
Do you have any formal dance training? Or did you pick up all your moves from the LA club scene?
Redfoo: No really formal training, just something we picked up. We’re just passionate people that just like to dance – we set goals to learn particular dances and we’ll do whatever it takes. We used to watch Michael Jackson...
SkyBlu: ...Morris Day, Prince, James to the Brown, Stevie Wonder...
Redfoo: We just mess around, play around. I first figured out that I had one of the coolest walks – that’s my claim to fame is the way I walk. I walk the walk and talk the talk!
