Cosmo chats: Ed Westwick

British babe Ed Westwick has gone from playing the bad boy in Gossip Girl to Mr. Nice Guy in the new flick, Chalet Girl. We caught up Ed to ask him a few questions.

You’ve been working in the US for a few years now. Was it fun to do a UK film again?
It was definitely a welcome change, and it was good to play an English character, too. I love doing Gossip Girl but it was good to break it up and do something different.

When you started on Gossip Girl you weren’t well known in the US. Are you surprised at how successful the show has become?
Yes, of course. It’s been a wild experience and I am enjoying it tremendously. You can never really expect anything like that to take off, so you just go with the flow.

Chuck is such a beloved character, despite being such a villain. Why do you think people love him so much?
Well, he’s got a lot of attractive traits. He can be manipulative, but he can also be compassionate and understanding. He has a heart, but he struggles to find it at times.

Is it fun to play Chuck?
Absolutely. I’ve had a lot of fun with the character. The storylines that the creators have written for Chuck have been great, and I have got to work with some fantastic people along the way.
