You've got your holiday hair and makeup all set, but what about your nails? Here, a present-perfect look to paint on stat.
Nail artist Simcha Whitehill aka Miss Pop shows and tells you exactly how to recreate this gorgeous design.
1. Prep and paint. "After you've filed your nails into the desired shape, pushed back your cuticles" — remember, DO NOT CUT THEM!— "and applied a basecoat, paint four of your nails with a garnet red glitter polish, leaving one nail bare," says Whitehill. Essie's Toggle to the Top was used here.
2. Add an accent color. "On the bare nail that you didn't paint, now top it with a white opaque polish," she says. Used here was CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Snow Storm. "Then, top the white nail with a clear shimmery polish, like Deborah Lippmann's Nail Lacquer in Bring on the Bling, to make it sparkle just like your other fingers."3. Make dot slightly off-center on your nail. Using the ball of a small pushpin or the tinier end of a dotter tool— which you can pick up at any beauty supply store — make a tiny dot off of the center of your nail that will serve as the center of the bow you're about to make. Use white (Snow Storm) on the red nails and red (Toggle to the Top) on the white nails. 4. Draw a "C" on both sides of the dot to create a bow. "With a striper brush — create two C-shaped, magnet-looking designs facing toward each other to make the bow," she says. Again, brush on white (Snow Storm) on the red nails and red (Toggle to the Top) on the white nails. 5. Complete the bow by creating two dangly ribbons."Using the striper brush again, make a long "V" with two strokes (to get the same effect when you cut the ribbon of a bow to create that triangle cut out)," says Whitehill. Again, red paint on white nail, white paint on red nail. 6. Finish off the wrap job. Next, using the striper brush, draw four short perpendicular lines out from the bow to each edge of your nail, wait a few seconds, and then apply a top coat.And that's a wrap!
