ABC's Next Bachelor Locked In & Ready With His Roses

Continuing a rather incestuous tradition of casting its headliners from the murky pool of previous contestants, ABC's next Bachelor is all but officially confirmed to be Iowan farmboy Chris Soules, who placed third on Andi Dorfman's most recent Bachelorette season. One of Soules' fellow contestants, Arie Luyendyk Jr. (who placed second on Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette two years back), tweeted last night that he didn't make the cut:

Luyendyk's tweet gives the game away twice over — once thanks to his reference to Soules' occupation, and also because, as omnipotent Bachelor spoiler Reality Steve has noted, the final casting decision had apparently come down to the two. (Reality Steve had also previously said his sources say it'll be Soules holding the rose bouquet.) The contracts are signed, apparently, and pre-show filming for took place at a sure-to-be-delightful bar called the Wagon Wheel, as well as the Iowa State Fair a few weeks back. Soules also met Texas Governor Rick Perry at the State Fair, but it seems unlikely that moment will make the feel-good, often-shirtless montage that introduces each new Bachelor in their season's premiere episode.

But on the flipside, Soules revealed that his biggest fear when on a date is "accidental diarrhea" [Editor's note: LOL] in his ABC bio, so look for one of his would-be wives to pretend to poop herself getting out of the limo in the premiere. That's a moment too good/bad for the producers to pass up, surely?
